Abstract

The following work aims to present the impact of technological disruption on modern diplomacy, paying special attention to the topic of agenda skills for diplomats in the knowledge economy. Drawing from the experience of Chile of becoming a hub of innovation in Latin America after the opening of the Start-Up Chile programme, as well as from other case studies presented in the literature, the article proposes some dimensions which drive the emergence of a new component of diplomacy that I call entrepreneurship-based diplomacy. A case study of the Start-Up Chile programme is presented, and based on this information, the benefits of integrating entrepreneurship as a diplomatic instrument are concluded.
